Prof. Dr. Dr. Ștefan-Ioan Stratul is a University Professor of Periodontology and Dental Microscopy at the “Victor Babeș” University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Timișoara, where he has carried out over three decades of academic, clinical, and research activity of reference in the field of periodontology.
With a solid academic trajectory continuously developed since 1992, Prof. Dr. Dr. Ștefan-Ioan Stratul is actively involved in teaching courses for students, residents, and international master’s programs, coordinating the residency in Periodontology, as well as in postgraduate training through EMC courses and advanced educational programs. He holds expertise in implantology and practices high-performance periodontology integrated with dental microscopy.
He holds a Doctorate in Medical Sciences, a Doctorate in Dental Medicine (Dr. med. dent.), as well as a Doctorate in Theology, representing a rarely encountered multidisciplinary academic background. He is a doctoral supervisor and has guided numerous completed theses in the fields of periodontology and dental medicine, directly contributing to the development of new generations of specialists.
In terms of professional leadership, Prof. Dr. Dr. Ștefan-Ioan Stratul is actively involved in national and international academic and professional life, serving as Vice President of the Neue Arbeitsgruppe Parodontologie (Germany), President of the Periodontology Commission of the CMDR, and Director of the “Anton Sculean” Center for Research on Periodontal and Peri-Implant Diseases in Timișoara. He also maintains an intensive editorial activity, serving on editorial boards and as a reviewer for numerous top international scientific journals.
Through his major contributions to research, education, and clinical practice, Prof. Dr. Dr. Ștefan-Ioan Stratul is one of the emblematic figures of contemporary European periodontology.
